They encountered no one on their flight to Iceland. The skies were mainly clear, the wind was cold, and they spent the time filling each other in on some of the gaps in their stories.

Gwen was curious about the other chess-playing brain - Professor Overshaw - who'd been out on loan to the Ferriss Moto-Man Corporation at the time of the break-in. She decided that she'd like Ivie Anderson, a friend to the brains.

Nat, for his part, kept trying to get her to explain the toaster her Uncle Cornelius had built for Doctor Rognvald. Why was it armored? Why did it have a blast door that could snap shut over the heating element - keeping the toast safe...? And it had been covered with sockets and cables that hadn't made sense, even to Uncle Cornelius. What could the toaster's purpose be?

They had answered none of those questions by the time they found themselves flying low over the Icelandic plains on their approach to the volcano Fremrinamur. They came in quiet and soft about a quarter mile from the tower. They'd make their approach on foo
