Cornelius Zappencackler looked up from his book again. Was he never to have any peace? It sounded like something had been smashed inside the vault. He checked the security system, having already forgotten that he'd switched it off. Bother!

Cornelius opened the vault door and looked inside, around, and up. What had lately been his skylight was now spread in slivers all around the room: moreover, a circular hole had opened up right under the Osgood Finnegan collection... which was now, he saw, no longer in evidence. He tsked angrily. That Lew Stone! He'd do anything to avoid cataloguing the vault!

Zappencackler reengaged the death rays. He didn't want to encourage thieves. Or did he? An entirely new security system suggested itself to him: one that would appear, he chuckled, to be disarmed. He forgot all about his book and shuffled over to the workbench. He'd always wanted to build an Instantaneous Helical Intruder Fragmentation Device, anyway. This would be interesting
