Cornelius Zappencackler saw one of his laboratory's many red alarm lights flashing. What was it this time? He put down his copy of Ten Fun Ways to Destroy the Earth - At Home! and looked over the warning displays. Earthquake? Not likely. One of his neighbors must be creating a bit of a seismic disturbance: probably Fenwick again. Though he'd been quiet lately.
Still, until the shaking settled down he'd better reset some of his systems. In fact the security around his private collections had better go down completely. Seismic activity was likely to trigger the death rays.
Cornelius shuffled over to the vault and saw that everything seemed fine there. He cast an eye over his recent acquisitions. Lew had been taking his time, cataloguing the Osgood Finnegan collection. It was almost as though Lew had taken on another job. Unthinkable! Cornelius flipped the big switch marked Do Not Flip! and went back to his reading. The vault's security systems whined and warbled and wound themselves down to sleep.
One quarter of an inch below the vault, the drilling machine sat patiently. Or... well, it sat. Patience wasn't really an issu

I don’t know about raincity1, but I was expecting it to catch Captain Scarlet. After all, the Clockwork book wants her story, no?
