Enlarge: The airships, and the Transportation Museum of Retropolis

Of course, not every visitor is concerned with speed. Some choose to view the city on the stately airships of the Retropolis Transit Authority and no one can suggest a finer way to appreciate the sheer size of our city of cities. Sight-seeing tours are only one function of the airship lines, but they're a popular one. Tickets are available at monorail terminals, Transit Authority offices, or - for that last minute jaunt - right at the airfield itself.

One of the destinations served by the Retropolis Transit Authority is its own famous Transportation Museum. An especial favorite of children, the Museum has much to offer to the adult traveler, too. You'll see exhibits of practically every mode of transportation that's ever been used or seriously considered by just about any civilization and a few, in the Questionable Modes of Transport wing, that we all thought better of before they were built.

You'll have no trouble at all when it comes from getting from place to place in Retropolis. As you've seen there are so many options, from personal rocket packs and hovercars to sky-spanning airships and speedy monorails, that the real danger is that you'll stand in one place simply because you can't make up your mind!

And if that ever does happen - if the wealth of choices becomes too much for you - just look from side to side and you'll find a Retropolis Travel Bureau kiosk. Let us know where you need to be and we'll tell you exactly how to get ther

I like this stuff.

It feeds my need for this sort of thing. The only truly wrong with it is that I didn’t think of it. Well, I might have some time ago, but if that’s true, I never did a darn thing about it.

I’ve been following this site for a few years now. “Better Living Through Mindless Escapism” is how you put it, I think.

Any idea what real estate is like in Retropolis? In the unfortunate reality, there is graphic violence, rising food prices, rising gas prices and scandals aplenty. Flying car or retro-futuristic monorail anyone? Also, where can I find a Philco cathedral radio that will play my iTunes library?

Keep thrilling us with stuff that should have been!

Well, I think I could help with the cathedral radio problem (assuming you have one). You’d just need to hook your MP3 player up to something like this. For the rest, though, the future is made up of what we put in it, so, you know, watch those ingredients with a little bit of care.
